When I first stepped in Singapore, I couldn’t hold my smile, it was a mile wide. I was filled with excitement and hope, ready to live the best two years of my life. I had no idea what was going to happen; other than my work contract, there wasn’t a single certainty to hold on to. I took it in my stride, facing it as the biggest adventure I had so far lived. .
I was not wrong. These past two years have changed me like nothing else could. I made so many dreams come true. I lounged in paradisiac beaches in Thailand, photographed monkeys in Vietnam’s countryside, hiked the Great Wall of China, went to a Taylor Swift concert in Perth, ate sushi in Tokyo, volunteered on an Elephant Sanctuary in Northern Thailand, got lost in Seoul, spent hours in Jakarta’s famous traffic jams, explored Sydney and it’s stunning coastal walks and national parks, enjoyed a weekend of luxury in Kuala Lumpur, lived in Singapore.
.
I traveled around Europe whenever I could. A fun weekend with my family at EuroDisney. A few days in quiet but beautiful Geneva. Found hidden gems in France. Almost froze to death in Warsaw. Discovered new places in Belgium. Due to a quirk of fate, I even spent a delightful day in Washington, D.C. (US) and had the chance to be in Brazil for a few days.
.
It wasn’t all about travel, though: during these past two years I met so many people who became good friends, people from all around the world. Brazil, China, USA, Australia, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Nigeria, Mexico, South Africa, Egypt, India, Russia, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, New Zealand, Singapore.
.
I had endless proofs of how connected we all are and how lucky we are to live in such a time where you can develop whole relationships with people who live on the other side of the world. More importantly, we live in such a time where feelings know no boundaries: the people you love the most are always with you.
.
London, the bar is high. But I believe in you, even though you are a beautiful mess right now. You and me? It’s gonna be epic.
